What is it about modern conservatism that demands there always be not just a threat, but an existential threat? It’s not enough that Saddam Hussein was a vicious dictator, he also had to be just years away from unleashing a “mushroom cloud” upon us all. It’s not just that there was a temporary rise in the number of undocumented minors crossing our borders, we had to have people like Rep. Louie Gohmert explain to us why this was going to somehow result in the end of American civilization. And those kids probably had Ebola. And they were probably Muslims. Reforming health care was going to lead to a dystopian future in which you would appear before a government panel that decided whether you lived or died. Putin is an evil mastermind who has his eyes not just on Crimea or even Ukraine, but on most of Europe if we do not send in our own tanks, or talk much more angrily, or do some other unspecified something. Everything is the immediate precursor to Armageddon, every day, all the time. The Great Orange Satan on Sen. Lindsey Graham, who says: ‘They will open the gates of hell’, ‘This is ISIL versus mankind’. (via wilwheaton)

Harley is a gift from God.

This is why Harley is like my all time favorite!

Why did they leave out the best part of this scene?;

The character development of Harley is probably one of the better things DC has done with their characters.

Things To Remember

wittyandcharming:

  • Don’t be angry at yourself when anxiety/depression flares up. It isn’t your fault and no one blames you and if they do they’re pieces of shit.
  • Don’t orbit around your perceived value so much. You’re not the sum total of what you produce.
  • Don’t let yourself wonder why people love you. That’s not how it works. There are not stark, individual reasons that a person can enumerate about why they love you. It’s the entire, unique combination of what and who you are.

I’ve recently become fascinated by why tuition costs have risen so much in the last 30 years. I mean…it’s insane, and it doesn’t result in a better education. It turns out, for the most part, that it’s marketing. Universities spending money so that they look better than other universities so they get more and better students so that they can make more money (largely via student loans.)

Student loans mean well, and they’re vital. But the education industry has been economically incentivized by their easy access to raise prices and get more students paying more. Schools that don’t spend lots of money on luxury dorms and top notch sports programs don’t grow…kids don’t go to them because, effectively, it’s the same price for 18 year olds because the loans are available.

We should start a university that costs $3000 per year, but you have to sleep on a cot with six other people in the room. Like Hogwarts.
